New Delhi, 02 August (H.S.): After suffering defeat in their opening match of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) Season 3, Purani Dilli-6 will look to bounce back when they take on West Delhi Lions at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Monday. Ahead of the crucial encounter, team captain Anuj Rawat said that the side is ready to return to the winning track.

Despite losing the tournament’s first high-scoring clash against Central Delhi Kings by four wickets, Purani Dilli-6 found several positives from the game, with captain Anuj Rawat’s unbeaten century being the biggest highlight.

When the team was struggling at 30/3, Anuj took charge under pressure and steadied the innings with Dev Lakra. The duo stitched together a crucial 132-run partnership, helping Purani Dilli-6 post a strong total of 202/4. However, the effort went in vain as Central Delhi Kings successfully chased the target, scoring 204/6 to win the match.

Purani Dilli-6 will now aim to register their first victory of the season against West Delhi Lions and carry forward the confidence gained from their opening performance.

Speaking ahead of Monday’s match, captain Anuj Rawat said the team quickly shifted its focus to the next challenge and is determined to make a strong comeback.

“Personally, I am happy with my batting performance, and scoring a century is always special. Of course, it would have been even better if the team had won the match, because ultimately the team’s success matters the most. The positive thing is that I am in good rhythm, and I want to continue this form in the upcoming games,” Anuj said.

The captain further added, “The atmosphere in the dressing room is positive, and everyone believes that we played very good cricket in the first match. We have taken several positives from that game and worked on areas where improvement was needed. Our complete focus is now on the match against West Delhi Lions, and we are ready to deliver a strong all-round performance. Our aim is simple — to play fearless cricket and secure our first win of the season.”
