Taipei, 02 August (H.S.): India's 17-year-old rising badminton sensation Tanvi Sharma scripted history by winning the women's singles title at the Taipei Open Super 300 badminton tournament. In Sunday's final, Tanvi defeated Vietnam's Thuy Linh Nguyen in straight games, 21-16, 21-16, to claim the first BWF World Tour title of her career.

The final lasted just 36 minutes, with Tanvi displaying aggressive and composed badminton right from the start. She dominated the experienced Vietnamese shuttler throughout the contest, allowing her little opportunity to mount a challenge. The victory marks the biggest achievement of Tanvi's young career so far.

After finishing runner-up at the US Open Super 300 last year, Tanvi returned stronger this season and converted her opportunity into a title-winning performance, underlining her emergence as one of India's brightest badminton prospects. Her attacking style and remarkable consistency were evident throughout the tournament.

The Badminton Association of India (BAI) congratulated Tanvi on social media, describing her achievement as historic. The federation noted that at just 17 years of age, Tanvi has become the youngest champion in the history of the Taipei Open. She also became only the fourth Indian woman to win a Super 300 or higher BWF World Tour women's singles title.

On her way to the championship, Tanvi had produced another commanding performance in the semifinals, defeating Chinese Taipei's Huang Yu-Hsun 21-17, 21-11 to book her place in the title clash.

Tanvi Sharma's landmark triumph is being hailed as a significant milestone for Indian badminton and further strengthens expectations that she will become one of the country's leading stars on the international circuit in the years ahead.
