New Delhi, 02 August (H.S.): India’s star badminton player and Olympic medallist PV Sindhu congratulated 17-year-old Tanvi Sharma for winning the women’s singles title at the Taipei Open Super-300 badminton tournament. Sindhu said that this is only the beginning for the young shuttler and encouraged her to continue working hard, adding that she is proud of her achievement.

Tanvi Sharma defeated Vietnam’s Nguyen Thuy Linh 21-16, 21-16 in the women’s singles final of the Taipei Open Super-300 badminton tournament on Sunday to win her maiden BWF World Tour title. The victory marks the biggest achievement of her career so far.

Congratulating the young player, PV Sindhu wrote on social media platform ‘X’, “I am extremely proud of this girl. I have been saying for many years that Tanvi has all the qualities to become a truly special player. She has talent, the ability to play brilliant shots, and the courage to take on the best players in the world.”

Sindhu further said that Tanvi only needed a little more consistency and experience, and it was heartening to see those qualities now reflecting in her game.

“Tanvi, this is just the beginning. Keep working hard, continue believing in yourself, and always maintain the hunger to improve. With players like you, the future of Indian badminton looks incredibly bright. I am very proud of you,” Sindhu added.

The Sports Authority of India (SAI) also congratulated the young shuttler and said that the future of Indian badminton is promising. In a post on ‘X’, SAI wrote, “17 years old. Fearless. Unstoppable. History now belongs to Tanvi Sharma. With a stunning victory at the Taipei Open 2026, Tanvi has become the youngest champion in the tournament’s history and the fourth Indian women’s singles player to win a BWF Super 300+ title.”

SAI further added that Tanvi’s record-breaking victory, champion mindset, and remarkable beginning have made the future of Indian badminton brighter than ever.
