Kolkata, 13 August (H.S.): A review meeting on the progress of various panchayat schemes and development projects in East and West Burdwan districts was held at the Srijani Auditorium in Durgapur on Thursday.

Panchayat Minister Dilip Ghosh reviewed the progress of ongoing schemes with the district magistrates and concerned officials from both districts. The meeting focused on assessing the implementation of key government programmes and identifying areas where work required greater attention.

The status of the VB-G Ramji scheme, West Bengal Housing Scheme and various initiatives under the Swachh Bharat Mission were discussed in detail. Officials also reviewed the progress of toilet construction, solid and liquid waste management and plastic waste management programmes.

During the review, it emerged that the pace of implementation was relatively slow in some areas. The concerned officials assured the minister that the identified shortcomings would be addressed promptly and that efforts would be made to accelerate the ongoing work.

Ghosh directed officials to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach eligible beneficiaries within the stipulated time and that development projects are implemented effectively at the grassroots level.

The minister said the government's primary objective was to serve the people and ensure that every government service and development scheme reaches all sections of society. He stressed the need to make implementation faster, more effective and people-oriented.

Officials were also instructed to conduct regular monitoring of schemes at the ground level and take immediate corrective measures wherever progress was found to be slow. They were directed to ensure that pending works are completed within the prescribed timelines.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from both Burdwan districts, who reviewed the status of ongoing projects and discussed measures to improve the implementation of various panchayat initiatives.
