(HS): The death toll in Kurla West landslide has gone up to eight. Four others

who survived with injutoes are being treated at a hospital.

The National

Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has official closed the rescue operation at 1.25

pm on Thursday. NDRF along with police, Fire Brigade and other agencies of the municipal

corporation had started rescue operation following landslide in the early hours

of Wednesday. Modern equipment and machinery were used to rescue people buried under

ten debris. On confirmation that nobody is under the debris, the rescue

operation was stopped. According to NDRF, 12 people were buried under the

debris, of which eight died and four were rescued. During the rescue operation Saddam

Wazir Ali Khan (28) were rushed to Rajwadi Hospital, where doctors declared him

bright dead. Lives of four were saved due to efforts by the rescue teams.

A portion of the

hillock collapsed on 2/3 houses around 3 am on Wednesday, when the residents were

sleeping.
