Bhubaneswar, 13 August (H.S.): The Odisha Government on Thursday laid the foundation stone for the upgradation of the 100-bed Government Ayurvedic Hospital in Bhubaneswar and construction of a new pharmacy warehouse building.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Mukesh Mahaling laid the foundation stones in the presence of Ekamra MLA Babu Singh and senior departmental officials.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening the infrastructure of government-run Ayurvedic healthcare facilities in the State and improving the quality of treatment and patient-care services.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Mahaling said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the preservation, promotion and modernisation of India's traditional systems of medicine, including Ayurveda, are being given priority. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the Odisha Government is taking several steps to modernise government Ayurvedic hospitals and strengthen their infrastructure.

The upgradation of the Bhubaneswar hospital is expected to improve the quality of healthcare services and create a more convenient and patient-centric environment. The proposed pharmacy warehouse will facilitate better storage and systematic management of medicines and other essential supplies.

The government said its broader objective is to make Ayurvedic healthcare safer, more accessible, quality-driven and aligned with scientific standards. Free diagnostic testing and medicines provided through Niramaya and Nidaan have further strengthened the accessibility of healthcare services for the public.
