New Delhi, 13 August (H.S.): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajya Sabha MP Sudhanshu Trivedi on Thursday criticised Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, citing a recent Punjab and Haryana High Court verdict and claiming that it had raised several serious questions.

Trivedi said Kejriwal, whom he accused of remaining silent on issues concerning Jharkhand and Punjab, should now clarify whether he would demand the resignation of his government after the court had allegedly exposed what he described as falsehoods by the administration.

The BJP leader also accused the Opposition of disrupting parliamentary proceedings. He said, “Lies in the Punjab Assembly, uproar in Parliament and questions raised by the judiciary clearly show that the so-called morality of those claiming to champion the interests of students has completely collapsed.”

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Trivedi stepped up his criticism of Kejriwal, alleging that he had remained silent on issues related to Jharkhand and Punjab. He also claimed that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had failed to pay adequate attention to these matters.

Referring to the disruptions in Parliament and the questions raised by the judiciary, Trivedi accused the Opposition of adopting double standards on constitutional propriety and political morality.

The BJP leader further targeted Rahul Gandhi, saying that a person who presents himself as one of the strongest advocates for the interests of students and young people now faces questions over his political and constitutional conduct.

Trivedi alleged that Gandhi had remained silent on issues concerning students and said this demonstrated that the Opposition had little genuine concern for their interests.
