Kolkata, 26 July (H.S.): West Bengal Governor R. N. Ravi paid tribute to the brave soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, saying their courage, valour and supreme sacrifice would continue to inspire the nation and future generations.

In a post on social media platform X on Sunday morning, the Governor honoured the soldiers who repelled Pakistan's treacherous intrusion during the 1999 Kargil War and reclaimed every inch of India's sacred territory.

He said the soldiers displayed extraordinary courage and unwavering determination while defending the country's sovereignty under some of the most challenging terrain and adverse conditions. The nation, he said, would remain forever indebted to the martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the motherland.

Governor Ravi also expressed deep gratitude to the Veer Naris (war widows) and the families of the fallen soldiers for their sacrifice and resilience.

Describing the Kargil heroes' legacy as an enduring source of national pride, the Governor said that India's march towards 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' was strengthening the country's indigenous defence capabilities and making the armed forces more capable of safeguarding national security.

He added that the courage, patriotism and sacrifice of the Kargil warriors would continue to inspire future generations to serve the nation with unwavering commitment and dedication.

The Governor concluded his message with the salutation, Jai Hind.
