Guwahati, 12 July (HS): Assam Agriculture, Irrigation and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pijush Hazarika on Sunday visited the Hatiamukh Irrigation Project in Jagiroad and reviewed its impact on farmers. Built at a cost of ₹30.67 crore, the project provides assured irrigation to nearly 5,800 bighas of farmland.
Interacting with farmers, Hazarika encouraged them to adopt two to three cropping cycles annually by utilising irrigation facilities and government schemes. He said the state is now prioritising modern pipe-based irrigation systems, citing faster implementation, efficient water management and fewer land acquisition issues. The minister reaffirmed the government's commitment to expanding irrigation infrastructure under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.----------
