New Delhi, 12 July (H.S.): Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra on Sunday alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had organised the Sunderkand recital merely as a political gimmick aimed at reviving their political fortunes.

In a statement, Malhotra said that Kejriwal's remarks on the Shri Ram Temple and the organisation of the Sunderkand recital were attempts to attract Hindu voters ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in Punjab and other states.

He also questioned why Kejriwal had discontinued the series of Sunderkand recitals that was announced in 2024. Malhotra said Kejriwal, who participated in Sunday's Sunderkand recital at Japanese Park in Rohini, should explain why that initiative was abandoned midway.
