New Delhi, 12 July (H.S.): The Central Government has approved 28 key capital infrastructure projects of the Delhi Government under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) Scheme. The total cost of these projects is ₹1,647 crore. In addition, the Centre has sanctioned an incentive of ₹756 crore in recognition of the Delhi Government's efforts to enhance capital expenditure (CapEx) through its own resources.
According to information released by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday, the projects approved under the SASCI Scheme include Delhi Metro-related works, the elevated Barapullah Corridor, the Karawal Nagar Flyover, electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at DTC depots, and several other critical road and infrastructure projects. Once completed, these initiatives are expected to significantly strengthen the city's transport and road infrastructure while improving public amenities.
The Chief Minister said the SASCI Scheme is a major Central Government initiative under which states and Union Territories receive interest-free financial assistance for infrastructure development projects. She noted that the scheme goes beyond financial support by offering incentives to encourage strategic reforms and increased capital investment by states, making it an effective instrument for accelerating infrastructure development across the country.
Rekha Gupta stated that her government had prioritised the scheme from the outset and consistently urged the Central Government to approve Delhi's infrastructure projects under the SASCI framework. As a result, all 28 proposals submitted by the Delhi Government received approval on July 9.
She added that the approval reflects the Central Government's confidence in the Delhi Government's commitment to reforms, fiscal discipline, and its ability to implement development projects efficiently. She further said that the additional incentive of ₹756 crore, awarded for the substantial increase in capital investment from the Delhi Government's own resources, marks a significant achievement in the government's development-oriented agenda.
