
Guwahati, 12 July (HS): A moderate earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale shook several parts of Assam and neighbouring Meghalaya at around 12:00 noon on Sunday, triggering brief panic among residents.
The tremors were felt across Guwahati and various other districts of Assam. According to preliminary information, the earthquake's epicentre was located in East Garo Hills district of Meghalaya.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to property. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, while residents were advised to remain calm and follow standard safety precautions in the event of aftershocks.----------
