
Raigad, 27 June (HS): The Action Committee Opposing Sub-Section
Category in ST Category Reservation has planned a Morcha (March) at in Mumbai
on March 30.
Addressing a press conference on Saturday at Azad
Maidan, representatives of Mumbai Marathi Patrakar Sangh, Republican Singh
Chief Anandraj Ambedkar, Bhimrao Ambedkar of Bharatiya Bouddha Mahasabha,
Ex-Minister Rajkumar Badole, Ex-Minister Babanrao Gholap, and Ex-MLA Baburao
Mane raised objection against the proposed categorisation of Scheduled Caste
community based on caste and is against the spirit of the Constitution and
social framework. The report of BARTI (Babasaheb Ambedkar Research and Training
Institution). The report favours only one caste of the 59 castes in the ST
category. The report has been accepted by the State Government on April 9.
2026. However, it has not been made public as yet.
As per census of 2011 the population of ST community
has increased and large number of vacant reserved posts under ST category have
not been filled. Further categorisation of ST communities will cause injustice
to a large number of people in this category.
The morcha in protest will start from Metro Cinema
at 11.30 am and will move through Bombay Hospital and Marine Lines Railway
Station to Vidhan Bhavan.
