Bhubaneswar, 25 June (H.S.): The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Bhubaneswar, has issued an Orange Warning for six districts of Odisha, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong surface winds over the next 24 hours.

The warning comes after the southwest monsoon fully advanced across the state, triggering widespread rainfall and unsettled weather conditions in several regions.

According to the Met Centre, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Nuapada, and Kalahandi districts are likely to experience intense rainfall, with wind speeds ranging between 40 and 50 kmph. Residents in these districts have been advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions.

The weather system is also expected to impact the coastal belt and adjoining areas, leading to continued atmospheric instability and intermittent rainfall.

In addition to the Orange Warning, the Met Centre has issued a Yellow Warning for 14 other districts. Overall, weather alerts have been issued for 24 districts across the state due to the prevailing monsoon conditions.

The department has further extended a Yellow Warning for Nuapada, Bolangir, and Kalahandi districts until June 28, warning of persistent heavy rainfall in these areas. Authorities have been advised to stay prepared for possible waterlogging, localized flooding, and disruptions to normal life.
