
Cachar (Assam), 25 June (HS): In a significant anti-narcotics operation, police recovered suspected heroin worth approximately ₹90 lakh during a naka checking drive conducted at Digorkhal Old MVI Gate Point under Kalain Police Station in Cachar district last late night.
Acting on specific source information, police intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number AS-01DN-5202 and carried out a thorough search. During the operation, officers discovered 15 soap boxes containing suspected heroin concealed in a hidden compartment of the vehicle.
The seized contraband weighed 177 grams in total. Police estimated the market value of the recovered narcotics at around ₹90 lakh.
Two individuals were apprehended in connection with the seizure. They have been identified as Hassan Ali of Rangolu Gaon and Siddiqul Islam of Bhakat Gaon, both residents of Nagaon district.
Police stated that all legal formalities were completed in accordance with the provisions of the NDPS Act. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway to trace the source and intended destination of the narcotics, as well as to identify other persons involved in the trafficking network.-----------
