
Jalandhar,, 20 June (H.S.): Jalandhar Commissionerate Police have arrested four members of a criminal gang allegedly linked to foreign-based handlers and involved in extortion and firing incidents in Punjab.
According to Punjab Director General of Police, the accused were apprehended during a special operation, and police recovered three sophisticated pistols along with live cartridges from their possession.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the arrested individuals were acting on the directions of handlers based abroad. The gang members were allegedly involved in planning and executing multiple firing incidents in Jalandhar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar districts.
Police officials said the accused were part of an organized criminal network that aimed to spread fear and carry out extortion activities. Their arrest has helped avert potential incidents and disrupt the operations of the gang.
A case has been registered at Bhargo Camp Police Station in Jalandhar Commissionerate under relevant sections of the law. Further investigations are underway to establish the backward and forward linkages of the network and identify other associates connected to the gang.
