Lucknow, 20 June (HS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi
Adityanath has formally expressed his wishes to the people of West Bengal on
the occasion of Paschimbanga Divas.
The day is marked on June 20, the date in 1947 when the Bengal Legislative
Assembly initially passed a plan to divide Bengal, championed by Jana Sangh founder
Syama Prasad Mookerjee. The observance was recently promoted by the state's BJP
leadership. This is in contrast to the Trinamool Congress (TMC) leadership,
which has traditionally designated the first day of the Bengali New Year (Poila
Baisakh) as the state's founding day. CM Yogi Adityanath actively engaged in
West Bengal events earlier this year as part of a high-profile electoral
campaign. The day is closely followed by the International Yoga Day
celebrations in Kolkata, which frequently include significant national leaders.
In a post on X, he remarked, “Heartfelt congratulations to
all the residents of the state on West Bengal Day. Blessed by the grace of
Mother Kali and the sacred land of great saints, thinkers, revolutionaries, and
litterateurs, West Bengal has continued to illuminate the national life with
the inspiration of luminaries such as Swami Vivekananda, Netaji Subhas Chandra
Bose, Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, and Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. Under the
illustrious guidance of the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji and
the able leadership of the Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri @SuvenduWB Ji, may the
resolve of 'Sonar Bangla' be realized, and may this glorious state establish
new dimensions of development and prosperity—this is the auspicious wish.”
