New Delhi, May 26 (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday morning shared a Subhashitam(video message) centred on the theme of knowledge through his X handle. Through the message, he explained to the nation and society the significance of true knowledge. He wrote, “True knowledge paves the way for the welfare of the nation, society, and the entirety of humanity. Therefore, it is essential that our knowledge and our actions become a source of inspiration for all mankind.”

The Subhashitam shared on the Prime Minister’s X handle reads as follows:

“Ātmā śuddhaḥ sadā nityaḥ sukharūpaḥ svayaṁprabhaḥ।

Ajñānān malinō bhāti jñānācchuddhō bhavatyayam॥”

Explaining the essence hidden behind this verse, the Prime Minister described knowledge and action as complementary to each other and called for the welfare of the entire humanity.

The meaning of the Subhashitam is that the soul is pure by its very nature. It is eternal and ever-existent. It embodies bliss and is self-illuminating. Due to ignorance, it appears impure or limited. However, upon attaining knowledge, it once again manifests in its pure form.

Each word of this verse carries profound meaning. For instance, “Shuddhah” signifies that the soul is inherently pure and sinless by nature. “Sada Nityah” denotes that it is eternal, everlasting, and immortal.
