New Delhi, May 25 (H.S.): External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Monday extended greetings to African nations and their citizens on the occasion of ‘Africa Day’. He reaffirmed India’s commitment to further strengthening its long-standing cooperative partnership with the African continent.
In a message posted on the social media platform X, Dr. Jaishankar wrote, “Greetings to all our partners across the African continent on Africa Day. Our partnership is rooted in a shared journey, mutual respect, and common interests. We remain committed to strengthening our solidarity and deepening our partnership further.”
He stated that the relationship between India and African countries extends far beyond diplomacy and continues to grow stronger across various sectors, including development, healthcare, education, trade, and humanitarian cooperation.
Notably, the Government of India on Sunday dispatched the first consignment of medical supplies and protective kits as part of humanitarian assistance to help combat the rapidly spreading Ebola outbreak in Africa. The aid has been sent to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC).
The assistance provided by India is being viewed as a reflection of the expanding cooperation between India and African nations, as well as a gesture of humanitarian support during a global public health crisis.
