Islamabad, 15 May (H.S.): Counter‑Terrorism Department (CTD) officials, notorious in Pakistan for carrying out fake encounters, have forcibly abducted two men from the Sui tehsil of Dera Bugti district in the fire‑ravaged province of Balochistan. One of the two is a Levies officer who had recently been transferred to the police department.
According to a report by The Balochistan Post, the abducted police officer has been identified as Siraj alias Baga, son of Bana Bugti. The second person has been identified as Gul Muhammad, son of Zahir Khan Hamzani Bugti. Gul Muhammad works as a watchman in the Education Department. Such incidents have reportedly increased in Dera Bugti district this year.
Separately, on 13 May, Shahab Baloch, the 17‑year‑old son of Haji Attaullah, was taken from his house in the Nag area of Washuk district around 2:00 pm. Shahab is a matriculate student. On 11 May, Yahya Baloch, the 18‑year‑old son of fisherman Amir Bakhsh, was forcibly taken from his home in the Jiuni Panwan area of Gwadar.
In Pakistan, the CTD is known in Urdu as “Mahkama‑e‑Insad‑e‑Dahshatgardi” and operates under the provincial police service. Its primary mandate is to fight terrorism, and the force is vested with sweeping powers.
Forced disappearances in
Balochistan have emerged as a grave human‑rights concern.
According to the Baloch Yakjehti Committee and other local human‑rights organisations, more than 1,200 people were forcibly disappeared in 2025 alone.
Another 82 people went missing in January 2026 and 234 in February 2026. Many of them were later released. The human‑rights group “Voice for Baloch Missing Persons” claims that over 6,000 Baloch remain missing to this day.
