Indian‑Origin Youth Sentenced to 64 Months in U.S. for Arms Trafficking

Washington, 15 May (H.S.):

Jaspreet Singh, a 27‑year‑old man of Indian origin from Punjab, has been sentenced to 64 months in prison in California, United States, for illegal arms trafficking and possession of a machine gun. He will now spend five years and four months in federal prison.

The sentence was announced by U.S. Attorney Eric Grant, and details of the conviction and sentencing have been posted on the website of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of California.

According to the case record, Jaspreet is the founder of the ‘Punjabi Devils’ motorcycle club. The ‘Punjabi Devils’ have been described as an alleged criminal gang involved in weapons trafficking and linked to the outlaw biker group ‘Hells Angels’. On 6 June 2025, Jaspreet attempted to sell firearms—including assault weapons, a revolver, and a machine gun—to an undercover officer. A subsequent search at his residence uncovered more weapons, including a machine gun, a machine‑gun conversion device, and a silencer.

Authorities also recovered a pineapple‑style hand grenade with a fitted cap and live fuse. The explosive ordnance disposal unit of the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s bomb team safely destroyed the grenade at the scene.

A criminal case was filed against him, and his court appearance was scheduled for 21 July 2025. When he failed to appear in court, a bench warrant for his arrest was issued. To evade capture, he went underground and was arrested on 26 July at San Francisco International Airport while attempting to flee to India. Assistant U.S. Attorney Adrian T. Kinsella led the prosecution in this case.
