Dr Bhagwat to address teachers on May 2
Mumbai,
28 Apr (HS): RSS Sarasanghachalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat will address teachers of
Vanwasi Kalyan Ashram during the karmayogi Ekal Shikshak’ meeting in Mumbai on
May 2. Union Minister for Highways and Road Transport Nitin Gadkari, Chief
Minister Devedra Fadnavisand Tribal
Development Minister Prod Ashuk Uike will remain present.The functioning of Ekal Vidyalaya run under Late Laxmanrao Mankar
Memorial Trust, Nagpur, is monitored by
Gadkari.
Mankar
Trust headed by renowned businessman Atul Shirodakar is planning to extend the concept of Ekal
Vidyalaya from Vidarbha region to entire Maharashtra. In the Vidarbha region
about 1300 Ekal Vidyalaya in Melghat, and Gadchiroli, cater to the need of about
30,000 students. More than 1800 teachers are engaged in these schools. The
Trust plans to spread the network of Ekal Vidyalaya to tribal areas of
Maharashtra. About 5,000 schools with 6,000 teachers will take care of more
than one lakh students in tribal areas. The schools not only take care of
academics but also helps the tribals in alleviating their status. Inspired by
the work of RSS the Mankar Trust aims to bring the tribals in remote areas into
the main stream of life.
Besides
formal education women empowerment, skill development, health awareness, dairy
development, preserving tribal culture and bring it to limelight, folk art etc
are taken care of by the Ekal Vidyalaya.
The event
at Gateway of India, Mumbai at 6 pm on May 2 aimed at bringing about the
desired change in the society. Prominent persons with distinguished
contribution in the field will be honoured as ‘Karmayogi’. Newly nominated
Rajya Sabha member from Nagpur Maya Iwnate will be felicitated. Sitar recital
by renowned artists Niladri Kumar has been organised on the occasion
