Lucknow, April 28 (HS): The Lucknow
bench of Justice Manish Mathur heard the petition challenging the citizenship
of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday. The court granted the petitioner
time to file documents and scheduled the next hearing for May 7.
Previously,
Justice Subhash Vidyarthi was hearing the case, but he has now recused himself
from the case. The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court heard a petition
challenging the citizenship of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday. The
case was listed before Justice Manish Mathur. During the hearing, petitioner S.
Vignesh Shishir requested time to file the necessary documents. The court
accepted the petitioner's request and scheduled the next hearing for May 7.
It is noteworthy that S. Vignesh
Shishir, a BJP worker living in Karnataka, has demanded the registration of an
FIR against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of acquiring British
citizenship in addition to Indian citizenship. His petition seeking this demand
was dismissed by the MP-MLA court in Lucknow. He appealed this order before the
Lucknow bench of the High Court. Justice Subhash Vidyarthi of the High Court
heard the case on April 17th.
