April 25 (HS): A comprehensive fire safety mock drill was conducted at the SN
Children's Hospital (Pediatrics Department), part of Motilal Nehru Medical
College, Prayagraj. The aim of the exercise was to ensure a quick and effective
response to a potential fire emergency on the hospital premises and to train
doctors, nursing staff, and other employees.
The
mock drill was conducted under the guidance of Brijesh Kumar, Junior Engineer
of the Electrical Department, and Dr. R.K. Yadav, Fire Safety Officer and Nodal
Officer. The program was presided over by Dr. Manisha Maurya, Head of the
Department of Pediatrics. During
the drill, hospital staff was briefed on fire safety procedures, including the
proper use of fire extinguishers, patient evacuation, and the use of the
emergency alarm system. They also explained the importance of maintaining
composure and making quick decisions in a panicked situation.
During
this, a demonstration of the safe evacuation of patients from various wards was
conducted, with the active participation of the nursing staff and paramedical
team. The drill ensured that each employee clearly understood their role and
responsibility in an emergency.
Department
Head Dr. Manisha Maurya stated that patient safety is a top priority at the
hospital, and regular drills like this can effectively address any untoward
incident. She added that such mock drills will continue to be conducted
periodically in the future to ensure all staff remain vigilant and trained.
Officials hailed the mock drill as a success, saying it not only reviews
security measures but also identifies potential areas for improvement.
