Lucknow, April 22 (HS): While reviewing the strategies of the
Department of Vocational Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship to
achieve the goal of making Uttar Pradesh a $1 trillion economy, Minister of
State (Independent Charge) Kapil Dev Agarwal directed that skill development
programmes should be made timely and result-oriented, so that the youth can be
directly linked to employment.
Assessing the progress of
departmental schemes at a review meeting held at the Uttar Pradesh Secretariat
on Wednesday, Minister Agarwal stated that skill development should not be
limited to training alone but should be employable. He directed officials to
ensure quality, modernity, and changes in ITI and skill development schemes in
line with industry needs.
The meeting discussed further
collaboration with Tata Technologies to modernize ITIs. Minister Agarwal
emphasized the need to make training industry-ready so that youth can find
employment opportunities immediately after training. A virtual presentation
with Delight India also emphasized the need to update skills to reflect new
technologies.
Minister Kapil Dev Agarwal
directed the officials on Skill Development Mission and ITI dropout to identify
its root causes and implement effective solutions so that more and more youth
can complete the training. He directed that regular industry visits, on-the-job
training (OJT) and Dual System of Training (DST) should be implemented on a
large scale for the students, so that practical experience is also ensured
along with training. Instructions were also given to ensure the availability of
equipment, labs and infrastructure in all ITIs.
Minister Agarwal said that construction
of new ITIs should be completed on time and existing institutions should be
modernized rapidly. Reviewing the progress of Project Praveen, a
program run under the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission, he directed that
new-age technology-based courses be started and linked directly to industries.
In the meeting, Minister Agarwal also said that to inspire
the youth, experiences of successful pass out students should be shared and
co-curricular activities should be promoted, which will increase their
confidence and make them more aware about their career.
