Guwahati, 22 April (HS): A woman commando trainee was found dead at a battalion camp in Assam’s Baihata Chariali on Wednesday, triggering an official probe into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The deceased has been identified as Aparna Pandit, a resident of Bokajan in Karbi Anglong district. She was undergoing training at the Commando Battalion camp at the time of her death.

Preliminary inputs suggest that she had been experiencing mental stress in the days prior to the incident. A note was reportedly recovered from the spot, though authorities have not yet verified its contents or confirmed the reasons behind her death.

Officials stated that the body has been sent to her native place for last rites.

Meanwhile, Baihata Chariali Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. Authorities said clarity on the matter is expected after a detailed examination of evidence and completion of procedural formalities.-----------
