
Prayagraj, April 22 (HS): Under the
aegis of ICAR-IIVR, an awareness program on Balanced Fertilizer Use and
Organic Farming was successfully organized in Bhagwatpur Block,
Village-Asrave Khurd, Prayagraj district, as part of the National Fertilizer
Awareness Campaign being run since 20-04-2026. The main objective of the
program was to make farmers aware of the balanced use of chemical fertilizers,
the importance of organic alternatives, and scientific measures for soil health
conservation.
Present on this occasion were Dr. Hare Krishna Pradhan, Designated Scientist
for Prayagraj District, Team Leader Dr. Jagesh Kumar Tiwari, Principal
Scientist and Senior Scientist Dr. Shailesh Kumar Tiwari. Dr. D.S. Chauhan
(Chairman-in-Charge), Dr. M. Tripathi, and Dr. R.P. Singh from the Krishi Vigyan
Kendra, Prayagraj, also participated in the program and provided technical
guidance to farmers. During the programme, scientists gave detailed information
to the farmers about the use of organic fertilizer and its long-term benefits.
Dr. Hare Krishna, while throwing light on the principles of organic and
natural farming, said that this method not only maintains the fertility of the
soil but also increases the quality of production. He stressed on the use of
green manure like Sunai, Dhaicha for improving soil health. Dr. Jagesh Kumar
Tiwari gave important information to the farmers about the use of Trichoderma
and microorganism based bio-fertilizers and told that these techniques are
helpful in protecting the crops from diseases and increasing production.
Dr. Shailesh Kumar Tiwari, while motivating the farmers for balanced and
judicious use of fertilizers, said that dependence only on chemical fertilizers
can be harmful for soil health, hence it is necessary to adopt integrated
nutrition management. Experts from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Prayagraj also
provided information to the farmers about the practical methods of use of local
resources, organic fertilizer production and agricultural waste management.
Also, the method of soil testing and taking soil samples was shared with the
farmers.
At the end of the program, a
farmer-scientist dialogue session was held, in which farmers' queries were
addressed. The farmers present described these awareness programs as extremely
useful and expressed their expectation for similar events in the future.
