Hooghly, 22 April (H.S.): West Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharyya on Wednesday asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party would win the Assembly elections even if they are conducted using the old voter list.

Speaking at a political programme in Haripal, Hooghly, Bhattacharyya said the BJP’s prospects do not depend on the Election Commission, but on public support. He claimed that people in the state are looking for change and that the Trinamool Congress government is nearing its end.

Amid the ongoing controversy over the voter list revision process, he remarked that even if elections are held using the previous electoral rolls—and names of voters who were allegedly removed are restored—the BJP would still emerge victorious.

Bhattacharyya also commented on the role of central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), stating that such issues are not of primary concern to the general public during elections. According to him, the key issue for voters is political change in the state.

He further alleged that people of West Bengal are disillusioned with the ruling Trinamool Congress and that a change in power is inevitable in the upcoming elections.
