Guwahati, 19 April (HS): The NDA leadership on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the Congress-led INDI Alliance, accusing it of opposing the Women’s Reservation Bill for political gains and lacking respect for women.

Addressing a press conference at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan, BJP state president and MP Dilip Saikia alleged that the INDIA Alliance does not support the empowerment of women and is attempting to politicise the issue for its own benefit. He claimed that the opposition’s stance reflects its unwillingness to see the rise of women’s power in the country.

Saikia further stated that the Congress-led alliance has failed to show even minimum respect and dignity towards women inside Parliament. He added that by opposing the Nari Shakti Vandan Amendment Bill, the opposition has demonstrated disregard for mothers and women across the nation.

The NDA leadership reiterated that the Women’s Reservation Bill is a significant step towards ensuring greater participation of women in governance and accused the opposition of obstructing progressive reforms for narrow political interests.--------
