The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has apprehended Principal Gurmeet Singh posted at Camp Khalsa Senior Secondary School Ajitsar Mohi district Ludhiana (Government Aided), red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 6,000/-.
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the state VB said the above-mentioned accused has been arrested based on a complaint lodged by a resident of village Mohi district Ludhiana.
He said that the complainant passed class 10th during COVID times and has not received class 10th passing certificate. He also applied for duplicate certificate through online but that was also not received. Thereafter he approached the Principal of his school to get his Matric certificate. In this connection, accused Principal demanded a bribe of Rs. 15800/- and has taken Rs 10,000/- as bribe on the spot from him. Whereas the government fee for getting a duplicate certificate is Rs 900/- and the Tatkal government fee is Rs. 2000/-.
Unwilling to pay any illegal gratification, the complainant approached the Vigilance Bureau Ludhiana. After a preliminary enquiry on his complaint, the VB team laid a trap during which the accused Principal was arrested red handed while accepting bribe money of Rs 6,000/- from the complainant in presence of two official witnesses.
In this regard, a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Ludhiana and further investigation into this case is under progress.
