New Delhi, 16 April (H.S.):
Aam Aadmi Party national convener and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal expressed profound sorrow Thursday over a devastating fire that gutted a slum cluster in Lucknow's Vikas Nagar Wednesday evening. Over 200 shanties were reduced to ashes, leaving hundreds homeless.
On X, Kejriwal conveyed deep empathy to affected families: My heartfelt condolences to those who lost everything in the inferno at Vikas Nagar slum. He highlighted not just lost roofs, but lifetime savings and livelihoods consumed by flames.
Kejriwal urged authorities for swift relief, employment opportunities, and rehabilitation measures to support these impoverished households. No casualties were reported, though panic ensued amid thick smoke and rapid blaze spread.
