Kanpur, April 16 (HS): Three people
were killed, including a farmer and his nephew, and a 10-year-old girl was
badly injured after the motorbike they were riding collided with a road barrier
in Shivrajpur on Thursday, police said. The victims were going home from a
'Tilak' ceremony (a pre-marriage custom) when the bike lost control and
collided with a divider at the Dubiyana underpass, according to Bilhaur's
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Manjay Singh.
Eyewitnesses told police that the accident was so forceful that all four
were thrown off the bike. According to eyewitnesses, the driver may have dozed
asleep, which caused the crash. A highway ambulance transported them to a local
Community Health Centre, where physicians pronounced three of them dead.
Vinod Nishad (45), a farmer, his nephew Piyush (11), and neighbour
Ramnarayan Nishad (52) are among the dead. Vinod's 10-year-old daughter Diksha was
seriously injured and is being treated at Lala Lajpat Rai (LLR) Hospital. According
to the ACP, the bodies have been submitted for a post-mortem, and additional
investigation is continuing to determine the actual cause of the tragedy. Vinod
is survived by his wife Manju and four kids, while Ramnarayan leaves behind a
