
Thiruvananthapuram, 09 March (HS):Three young men lost their lives in a tragic road accident after two motorcycles collided head-on near Nedumangad in Thiruvananthapuram district on Monday early morning hours. The incident occurred on the Nedumangad–Aryanad road near the Kulappada Government Hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Sreelal, Binoy, and Rajesh, all residents of Uzhamalakkal. According to preliminary reports from the police, the victims were travelling on two separate motorcycles when the vehicles collided with each other at high speed.
Officials said the impact of the collision was extremely severe, resulting in fatal injuries to the three riders. They died either on the spot or while being rushed for medical assistance. The motorcycles involved in the accident were completely damaged due to the force of the crash.
Another person who sustained serious injuries in the accident was immediately rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram for emergency treatment. Doctors said the injured person is under close medical observation.
Local residents who witnessed the incident alerted the police and emergency services. Police personnel soon arrived at the scene and shifted the victims to the hospital while initiating an investigation into the accident.
Preliminary findings suggest that overspeeding may have been a major factor behind the crash. Authorities are examining the circumstances that led to the collision, including the speed of the motorcycles and the condition of the road at the time of the accident.
The tragic incident has left the local community in shock, as the victims were residents of the same locality. Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
