Hyderabad, March 9 (HS): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed officials to prepare plans for developing the required sports infrastructure in the state with a vision to host the Olympics and Commonwealth Games in Telangana in the future.

The Chief Minister held a review meeting on sports infrastructure in the state. The meeting was attended by State Ministers Vakiti Srihari and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, CM Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, Sports Authority of Telangana (SAT) Chairman Shivsena Reddy, Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, CM Principal Secretaries Srinivasa Raju and Seshadri, SAT Managing Director Soni Baladevi, Young India Sports University Vice-Chancellor Dr. G. Kishore and other senior officials.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister enquired about the maintenance of stadiums and the existing sports infrastructure across the state. Officials were directed to upgrade Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy Stadium, LB Stadium and Saroor Nagar Stadium to meet future requirements, including hosting training camps and major sports events.

Revanth Reddy also reviewed the proposal to establish the Young India Sports University with state-of-the-art facilities, including infrastructure for various sports disciplines. He emphasised that the university should be developed with modern facilities to train athletes capable of winning medals at the Olympic Games.

In addition, the Chief Minister suggested renovation of the Gachibowli outdoor stadium and proposed the establishment of more indoor stadiums, university complexes, hostel buildings and various sports grounds required for training within stadium premises.

He also reviewed different designs proposed for new sports complexes and offered suggestions to officials for developing modern sports infrastructure in the state.
