March (HS): A 20-year-old man who had been abducted was rescued on Monday, and
four accused, including two juveniles, were arrested following a brief confrontation,
according to officials. According to sources, the accused later sought a ransom
of Rs 2 lakh from the victim's family in exchange for his release. Police
detained Arun Yadav (25), Harsh Yadav (20), a Bargaon resident, and two
children in connection with the case. Another accused, Rajat Rai of Bhander,
managed to leave, and attempts are on to apprehend him, they added. According
to SHO Nawabad Ravi Srivastava, the incident occurred on Saturday night as Raj
Pathak was going home from a gathering on his motorbike with two pals. A red
Thar with no number plate collided with their motorbike near the Exam Building
in Nawabad, forcing them to collapse.
Soon
after, Arun, a resident of Chirgaon's Babri village, and his colleagues
reportedly shot in the air and forcibly grabbed Pathak in the car, the officer
added. Based on the complaint, police filed a case against Arun and three to
four unnamed individuals under the relevant provisions and conducted a search. A
Rs 15,000 incentive has also been declared for his arrest. Acting on a tip-off,
police apprehended the accused on Paramedical Road at 2 a.m. on Monday, and
after an encounter, Pathak was rescued safely, according to the SHO. The Thar
vehicle used in the crime, as well as an illegal firearm, were retrieved from
the accused by police. The officer further stated that further inquiry is being
conducted into the situation.
