Lucknow,

06 March (HS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off 50 QRT

vehicles in the capital, Lucknow, on Friday. On this occasion, he said that the

positive work of the Uttar Pradesh Police during his government's tenure

between 2017 and 2022 has resulted in transforming the pre-2017 chaotic,

disturbed, riot-prone, and curfew-ridden state into a safe Uttar Pradesh,

setting an exemplary example. This is the first time a government has been

elected to power for a second consecutive term.

Chief

Guest Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off 50 QRT vehicles at a ceremony

held at Lok Bhavan, Lucknow. These vehicles were provided by the Honda India

Foundation under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund. Chief

Secretary SP Goyal, Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Krishna, Vice

Chairman of the Honda India Foundation, and other key government and

administrative officials were present on the occasion. In his address, Chief

Minister Yogi Adityanath said that for the first time, law and order could

become an election issue in a democracy. For the first time since independence,

a government has returned to power after completing its five-year term. This is

the result of the police's efforts, which between 2017 and 2022, transformed

Uttar Pradesh from a chaotic, disturbed, riot-prone, and curfew-stricken state

before 2017 into a safe Uttar Pradesh.

He

said that the first condition for development is security, but before 2017

neither the individual nor the family was safe, so how would investment come?

But after 2017, we did everything that was necessary to nurture Uttar Pradesh,

the soul of India, and the results are in front of everyone in 09 years. Describing

the ceremony as of special importance, he said that in 09 years, this overall

change and perception changed, for this some reforms were made. Transformation

cannot happen without reform.

Discussing

the police reforms and resources made available during his government, he said

that in the year 2017, UP Police had a total of 9500 PRV vehicles, but today

their number is more than 15,500 in the state. Similarly, in 2017, the number

of two-wheelers was 3000, but today their number has increased to more than

9200. This is not just about numbers, it has succeeded in minimizing the police

response time. If we look at it, the quicker action taken in an emergency

situation converts into trust and this trust is the reason for transformation.

Chief

Minister Yogi said that the Prime Minister always says that the three key

pillars of model policing are infrastructure, technology, and mobility, and all

three have their own importance. Before 2017, the Uttar Pradesh Police Force's

budget barely reached Rs.

16,000 crore,

and even that remained unspent. Districts were created years ago, but there

were no district headquarters or police lines. In such circumstances, could the

police deliver results? Furthermore, the police had outdated weapons, no

facilities, zero infrastructure, and dilapidated barracks, where, after a

12-hour day's duty, policemen would return to live under broken asbestos

sheets. They were forced to live under broken thatched roofs in extreme

weather, winter, summer, and rain. During his visit to the Lucknow Police

Lines, the Chief Minister highlighted the lack of resources and how the

soldiers were forced to live.

Chief

Minister Yogi, while discussing the expansion of police resources during his

tenure, said that today model police stations and model fire stations are being

built. In 2017, the Uttar Pradesh Police Force had a training capacity of only

3,000, so there was concern about how the training would be provided. Young

people were worried because recruitment hadn't taken place for years, and fair recruitment

remained a question. The problem I faced was that we couldn't recruit more than

3,000 at once.

The

Chief Minister stated that work progressed rapidly since 2017, and world-class

forensic labs have been established. Several are under construction in various

districts. Forensic vans are also deployed. A large number of police personnel

have been recruited, all of whom are being trained at training centers in Uttar

Pradesh. He stated, I assure you that the Uttar Pradesh government and

the Uttar Pradesh Police will work with full commitment to effectively

implement our 'zero tolerance' and 'zero corruption' policy, and will present

Uttar Pradesh as a 'safe state' and a 'safe prosperous state', as the 'growth

engine' of India. Today, we are in a position to face any challenge. Uttar

Pradesh's police and PAC are in demand in other states. Chief Minister

Yogi thanked the Honda Foundation for their trust in the police by providing 50

vehicles, and urged them to ensure continued growth and social security and

industrial investment. This function is of the government, industry and

society, and when these three think in one direction then development happens.
