Itanagar, 06 March (HS): The Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Friday witnessed the introduction of seven important Bills addressing diverse sectors such as taxation, fire safety, education administration, urban planning and governance reforms.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu presented the Arunachal Pradesh Fire and Emergency Services Bill, which proposes to strengthen fire prevention mechanisms and ensure better maintenance and management of fire and emergency services across the state. The proposed legislation also seeks to enhance safety provisions for buildings and other establishments.

Education Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona introduced the Arunachal Pradesh Transfer and Posting of Employees of Education Department (Regulation and Management) Bill. The proposed law aims to establish a structured legal framework to regulate the transfer and posting process of both teaching and non-teaching staff in the education department.

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, who also oversees Finance, Planning and Investment, placed two Bills before the House — the Arunachal Pradesh Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill to modify provisions of the state GST Act, 2017, and the Arunachal Pradesh Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (Amendment) Bill seeking revisions to the FRBM Act, 2006.

Meanwhile, Panchayati Raj Minister Ojing Tasing introduced the Arunachal Pradesh Local Authorities (Prohibition of Defection) (Amendment) Bill, which proposes changes to the existing anti-defection law governing local bodies.

Urban Affairs Minister Balo Raja tabled the Arunachal Pradesh Urban and Country Planning (Amendment) Bill, while Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona also introduced the Arunachal Pradesh Salaries, Allowances and Pension of Members of Legislative Assembly (Amendment) Bill.

The newly introduced Bills are expected to be discussed in detail during the ongoing session of the Assembly in the coming days.---------
