Guwahati, 24 March (HS): The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has appealed to the public not to be misled by fake propaganda circulating on social media as the Assam Assembly elections draw near.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, Kishor Shivam, Prachar Pramukh of RSS North Assam region, stated that a group has become active with the intent to malign the organisation’s image and misguide voters. He alleged that numerous fake and AI-generated posts are being widely circulated on social media platforms.
He further informed that a fake letter regarding ticket distribution of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was recently made viral in the name of the RSS Sarsanghchalak. Following this, another fabricated message surfaced in the name of an RSS functionary in Assam, falsely claiming that the organisation intends to impose a ban on meat consumption in the state.
Clarifying the matter, Shivam asserted that all such letters and posts are completely fake, baseless, and have no connection with the RSS. He termed these actions as a deliberate attempt to spread misinformation, create confusion and tension in society, and disturb the electoral environment.
Taking serious note of the issue, an FIR has been lodged with the Guwahati Cyber Cell and the Delhi Cyber Cell by Guwahati Mahanagar Sanghchalak Guru Prasad Medhi, seeking strict legal action against those responsible.
The RSS has urged people to remain cautious, verify information before sharing, and avoid becoming a medium for the spread of fake news.-----------
