Guwahati, 24 March (HS): The Adivasi Students’ Association (ASA) has removed its president and secretary from their posts, alleging that the two leaders attempted to mislead the Adivasi community by extending support to the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) based on personal discretion.
The decision was taken during an emergency meeting of the central executive committee on Tuesday, where members expressed strong concern over the unilateral political stance adopted by the ousted leaders. The committee accused them of acting without organizational consensus and diverting the community from its collective interests.
Following their removal, the association appointed new office bearers to restore organizational stability. David Tirkey has been named the new president, while Puran Ganju has taken charge as the secretary.
The ASA stated that the move was necessary to uphold the integrity of the organization and ensure that its leadership remains aligned with the aspirations of the Adivasi community.-----------
