Sonitpur (Assam), 23 March (HS): Following the tragic road accident at Rubbertola in Dhekiajuli, authorities have completed the identification of the deceased, while one injured person continues to battle for life. Eight people had lost their lives in the last night incident.

According to police sources, the deceased have been identified as Samij Nath, Sandhyamani Nath, Bishwesh Nath, Kunal Karmakar, Vijay Hansa, Sujita Gaur and Hari Madgir. Three of the victims reportedly belonged to the same family, casting a pall of gloom in the area.

Meanwhile, the critically injured Mahesh Majhi is undergoing treatment at Tezpur Medical College and Hospital, where his condition remains serious. Doctors are closely monitoring his health.

Police have intensified the investigation into the cause of the accident. Preliminary findings suggest that high speed and a head-on collision between the ambulance and a truck led to the tragedy. The administration has assured all possible assistance to the bereaved families.-----------
