Bhubaneswar, 22 March (H.S.): Former Odisha MLA Sadashiv Pradhani has been expelled from the Bhatra community following his decision to marry his daughter into another caste.

Sources report that the move, seen as a breach of traditional norms within the Bhatra community, prompted members of the Akhila Bharatiya Bhatara Bikash Parisad (All India Bhatara Development Council) to convene a meeting in Dhamanaguda village to discuss the matter.

After detailed deliberations, the council decided to socially boycott and formally expel Pradhani from the community, citing violations of established customs and social practices. The resolution was reportedly adopted unanimously.

The decision has drawn attention in the region, highlighting the continuing influence of traditional community norms despite the political prominence of figures like Pradhani.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that the wedding of Pradhani’s daughter is scheduled for next month. The former MLA has not issued any official statement regarding the community’s decision.
