Guwahati, 22 March (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma made strong remarks regarding Jayanta Das, stating that Das was never genuinely committed to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and that the party had taken the correct decision in this regard.

Addressing the media after participating in a program last night, the Chief Minister said that he has extended his best wishes to Jayanta Das and remarked that he is free to contest and try his luck from the Dispur constituency if he wishes.

Sarma also spoke about Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita, assuring that he would be given due respect and recognition within the alliance. He noted that in the past, one seat in Guwahati was allocated to AGP while the BJP contested the remaining seats.

However, this time, the seat has been allotted to Dimoria, leading to some dissatisfaction among party workers and leaders, which the Chief Minister described as natural when a sitting MLA does not get a ticket.

The Chief Minister further informed that the party has sought support from Kalita and entrusted him with the significant responsibility of overseeing the election campaign in the Jalukbari constituency.-----------
