Prayagraj,
20 March (HS): Pramod Tiwari, MP, Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Rajya Sabha,
said that the Modi government has completely failed in its duty to the public,
and has resorted to hoarding and profiteering to the extreme. International
crude oil prices are hovering between $110 and $120 per barrel, and the
petroleum war has yet to have any impact, yet the central government has
increased the price of premium petrol by Rs. 27 per liter.
Tiwari
questioned the central government, saying that if a dealer had raised the
price, he would have been labeled a black marketer, a profiteer, and an
opportunist. However, when the Modi government is doing the same, it too should
be labeled an opportunist and a profiteer. Tiwari has said that when the price
of crude oil in the international market had fallen to about $60 per barrel,
the government had not reduced the selling price and diesel and petrol were
being sold at the same price, and after earning a profit of more than Rs 26 to
30 lakh crore, the central government had said that we have done this so that
with this money we can cover the old losses, and be prepared to deal with the
future situation.
Tiwari
emphasized that the price hikes imposed by the central government today are
profiteering and opportunism. I strongly condemn this move, and in the public
interest, it should be immediately withdrawn. Tiwari stated that the Modi
government's economic decline has reached its peak, a dark chapter has been
written. The value of the Indian rupee has fallen by 86 paise against the
dollar, and now one dollar is equal to 93.75 Indian rupees. Tiwari reminded,
Modi ji, you used to say that when the rupee falls against the dollar,
the Prime Minister's credibility and the country's credibility decline. How far
will you push the country's credibility? Take moral responsibility and
apologize to the people of the country, because the economic decline in the
country has reached its peak. I strongly condemn this.
