Kolkata, 24 February (H.S.):

A serious case of fake voter ID cards (Voter IDs) being generated and submitted using Artificial Intelligence (AI) has surfaced in West Bengal. This case was discovered during a routine check during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) phase of the electoral roll in the Bhangar Assembly Constituency (AC-148) of North 24 Parganas district.

As per information, voter Jannatun Molla submitted an AI-generated voter ID card to prove her relationship with her father, Hasem Molla. This document was the only proof of this relationship. Shockingly, this fake document was initially accepted, and during the investigation, some election officials even marked it as Found OK.

Further investigation revealed that the EPIC number on the Voter ID card was completely fake. Furthermore, the card also bore an AI Generated watermark, confirming its artificial origin.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) IT cell chief Amit Malviya shared the incident on the social media platform 'X' on Monday night, raising questions about the state's electoral system. He sarcastically remarked, This is the infamous Diamond Harbour model.

Amit Malviya's comment is being seen as a direct attack on the transparency and administrative vigilance of the electoral process in the Trinamool Congress-ruled state. By mentioning Diamond Harbour, he is allegedly pointing to widespread irregularities.

This incident has raised serious concerns about the voter verification system, document verification processes, and the potential misuse of AI.
