24 Feb (HS): Six people were killed, five of them were children, and a woman

was injured when a fire broke out at a residence in the Lisadi Gate

neighborhood of this city, police reported on Tuesday. The incident occurred on

Monday night in Kidwai Nagar. Seven persons were taken to the civil hospital

for burn injuries. The doctors eventually confirmed six of them dead, Meerut SP

Avinash Pandey informed reporters at the hospital. Information about the blaze

at Iqbal Ahmad's house was received, and police and fire brigade crews hurried

to the scene to put out the fire, according to the officer.

According

to authorities, tailoring work was done inside the property, and a considerable

amount of material was stored there, causing the fire to spread quickly. According

to authorities, a short circuit is suspected of starting the incident, and an

investigation is underway. Police named the deceased as Rukhsar (25), Mahbish

(12), Hammad (4), Akdas (4), Nabia (4 months), and Inayat (4 months), all of

whom lived in Gali No. 3 near the Surahi Wali Masjid in Kidwai Nagar. The

wounded woman, Ameer Bano (55), is receiving treatment, according to the SP.
