Bokajan (Assam), 24 February (HS): A major boost to women-led entrepreneurship was rolled out in Bokajan on Tuesday as Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma distributed seed capital to 16,395 women entrepreneurs under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA). Each beneficiary received financial assistance of ₹10,000 during a ceremonial programme held in the Bokajan Legislative Assembly Constituency.

The initiative is designed to enhance financial independence and foster self-reliance among women across Assam. With this latest distribution, the scheme continues to expand its outreach, having already benefited over 28.61 lakh women across 115 Assembly constituencies in the state.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister underscored the pivotal role of women in shaping families and communities. He asserted that economic empowerment of women strengthens households and lays the foundation for a more resilient and prosperous society.

The seed fund support under MMUA forms part of the state government’s broader push to promote women-led enterprises and sustainable livelihood opportunities. The Bokajan event further signalled the accelerating pace of Assam’s women empowerment mission, highlighting the crucial contribution of financially empowered women to the state’s overall development trajectory.------------
