Kolkata, 16 February (H.S.): A 28-year-old man allegedly committed suicide on Monday in Ward No. 22 of Kanchrapara Municipality in North 24 Parganas district due to a family dispute with his wife. The deceased has been identified as Suraj Majhi. The police have launched an investigation.

According to a preliminary police investigation, the young man hanged himself inside the house due to ongoing arguments with his wife. However, the exact cause of the dispute is not yet clear. The police are also investigating whether any third party was involved in the couple's relationship.

As per information, the deceased was employed at the Halishahar Jute Mill. According to local sources, the couple often had arguments. The quarrel escalated on Sunday night, and a further argument is reported on Monday morning. Shortly afterward, the young man allegedly took the extreme step.

The family immediately rushed him to Kalyani JNM Hospital (Kalyani Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Hospital), where doctors declared him dead. The police were then informed.

The police took the body into custody and sent it to the hospital for post-mortem. Officials said that the cause of death will be fully clarified only after the post-mortem report is received.
