Bhubaneswar, 16 February (H.S.): Elaborate multi-layer security arrangements have been put in place ahead of the Odisha Assembly Budget Session beginning Tuesday. A comprehensive review of preparedness was conducted on Monday at the Assembly premises.

Police Commissioner Suresh Dev Datta Singh along with Bhubaneswar DCP Jagamohan Meena inspected the deployment and assessed security measures inside and around the complex. The 2026 budget session will be held in two phases from February 17 to April 6.

As part of the security plan, 35 platoons of police personnel will be deployed. The arrangement includes seven Additional DCPs, 22 ACPs, 29 inspectors and 111 sub-inspectors. One platoon each of Special Operations Group (SOG) and Special Tactical Unit (STU) commandos, along with bomb squad and fire services teams, will also remain on duty.

Authorities have also announced traffic restrictions for the public from 120 Battalion Square to Rabindra Mandap and Jaydev Bhawan during the session.

The review focused on securing all entry and exit points with barricading and surveillance, besides ensuring effective crowd management and law-and-order maintenance during the session, which generally witnesses heightened political activity. Senior police officials examined barricades, surveillance systems and deployment strength across the Assembly premises.
