
New Delhi, 15 February (H.S.): The Central Government has initiated the second phase of a nationwide capacity-building program for gram panchayats across the country. During this phase, panchayat representatives from Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha received comprehensive technical and on-ground knowledge.
According to the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, the program commenced on February 13, with thousands of representatives participating via 1,011 online links. The ministry informed that participants were educated on the National Consumer Helpline 1915, the e-Jagruti portal, and the Consumer Protection Act 2019, while also sharing their own issues.
The initiative aims to strengthen consumer rights awareness and enforcement at the panchayat level.Notably, the first phase ran from December 20, 2024, to August 22, 2025, covering all states and union territories except Delhi and Chandigarh.
