
Howrah, 01 February (H.S.): An incident of a woman being molested in broad daylight has come to light in Chatterjeehat police station area of Howrah. The entire incident was captured on a CCTV camera installed at a nearby club, based on which the police arrested the accused, Rajatpriya Saha.
According to local sources, on Sunday afternoon, a young woman was walking home along Gadadhar Mistry Second Bye Lane. At that time, a young man wearing a helmet approached her on a scooter from the opposite direction. Seeing the woman, he turned his scooter around, came closer, and suddenly committed an indecent act by touching her buttocks, before fleeing the scene. The woman tried to catch him, but the accused sped away.
The entire incident was recorded on a CCTV camera in the area. Based on the footage, the accused was identified as Rajatpriya Saha, who works at a liquor shop in the Belipole area. Later, with the help of local residents, he was apprehended and handed over to the police.
The police have registered a case under two different sections and arrested the accused. Following the incident, questions have been raised about security in the area. Local residents have demanded that the police take strict action to prevent such incidents from happening in public.
